FLOP OF THE WEEK: Willy Caballero (Manchester City).
We knew Manchester City were not going to prioritize the FA Cup, but that doesn't mean you should not show fight and show some honesty about how they'll go about their game. Caballero conceded 5 goals in Manchester City's FA Cup defeat to Chelsea over the week. We feel Caballero could have done better than letting the ball just go through the net like nobody is in goal. He showed total lack of interest, yes props goes to him, he saved a penalty but honestly it was a poor spot-kick from Oscar. Anyway Manchester City got what they wanted in resting players no doubt,we just hope it does not backfire as they focus on the Champions League and Capital One Cup final.
GOAL OF THE WEEK: Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich).
We think the question is what can't he do? this wonder goal made it 2-1 to Bayern Munich as they battled from a goal down to beat Darmstadt 3-1 in their Bundesliga fixture over the weekend.
Bayern had total control as usual and Arturo Vidal was in the thick of things, he dinked a diagonal pass from midfield which Thomas Muller controlled with his chest then hit an overhead kick which beat the Darmstadt goalie. Too much explaining watch the goal
SAVE OF THE WEEK: Kevin Trapp (PSG).
The Champions League returned this past week and it gave us the champagne feeling that it normally gives with it's excitement and greatness. PSG beat Chelsea 2-1 in their 1st leg round of 16 tie, it was really an interesting game where both goalies were at the at the top of their games. Anyway Chelsea were in control as they attacked PSG down the left, a quick one two move between Hazard and Baba Rahman saw the full-back break through the PSG byline and sent a dangerous cross which met Diego Costa and the striker looked to have beat the Kevin Trapp but the German International was quick with his reflexes making a great save in the process as he looked like he dove the wrong way.
MATCH OF THE WEEK: Gent V Wolfsburg (Champions League).
It was a very low key fixture and no one really paid attention to both teams but after what these teams produced in their 1st leg fixture, we're sure the second leg will be a match to look forward too. Briefly, the first half finished 1-0 as Julian Draxler gave Wolfsburg the much wanted away goal. He scored his brace in the second-half as he made it 2-0 to the men from Germany. It looked like the tie had been done and dusted when Wolfsburg striker Max Kruse made it 3-0 to the away side. Gent deserved a late consolation and they got it when Sven Kums made it 3-1 on the night. They did not finish there, Genk striker Kalifa Coulibaly made it 3-2 on the night. Full-Time result was 2-3 which makes the second leg more interesting.
MANAGER OF THE WEEK: Steve Bruce (Hull).
The tough prowse manager was the mastermind in getting in replay as FA CUP champions Arsenal drew 0-0 with Hull at the Emirates. Bruce played a 3-5-2 formation which limited Arsenal attacks and kept them at bay for the whole of the game. Hull even had late chances but were unable to capitalize. The tigers will have a better chance of progressing as they play in front of their crowd in the replay fixture.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: FC Midtjylland (Denmark).
This team was founded in 1999 and they got a historical victory as they beat English giants Manchester United 2-1 in their Europa League fixture. This is one result they'll not forget.
COMBINED TEAM OF THE WEEK:
Eldin Jakupovic (Hull City).
Keepers seem to be having the game of their lives against Arsenal, Jakupovic joined the trend as he helped Hull get a replay in their 0-0 FA Cup draw against Arsenal. He was man of the match.
RB: Erik Durm (Dortmund).
The full-back had a smashing game as he helped Dortmund beat Leverkusen 1-0 in their Bundesliga fixture. With the way Durm is playing he is sure to join the Germany squad as they try to be European champions.
CB: Curtis Davies (Hull City).
He had a good game against Arsenal especially helping shielding out Theo Walcott giving the striker no space to operate on the day.
CB: Miranda (Inter).
We all know his qualities but he also capped it with a goal in helping Inter beat Sampdoria 3-1, as Inter continue to chase the Champions League spot.
LB; David Alaba (Bayern Munich).
You can't fault this lad, he helped Bayern comeback from a goal down to beat Darmstadt 3-1 in their Bundesliga fixture.
CM: Josef De Souza (Fenerbahce).
The midfielder scored a brace as Fenerbahce beat Lokomotiv Moscow 2-0 in their Europa League fixture.
CM: Thiago Motta (PSG)
The veteran midfielder had a beastly game against Chelsea in the Champions League as he helped PSG beat Chelsea 2-1 in their Champions League fixture last week. He stopped Willian from operating on the night.
RW: Dimitri Payet (West-Ham)
The West-Ham wizard scored two brilliant goals as he orchestrated his team's 5-1 win over Blackburn which saw them progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. West-Ham will play Manchester United next.
LW: Santi Mina (Valencia).
The young Spanish forward had a smashing week as he helped Valencia beat Rapid Vienna 6-0 in their Europa League fixture scoring 2 goals and assisting another three. He also scored in Valencia's victory over Granada in their weekend La Liga fixture.
ST: Edin Dzeko (AS Roma).
Despite his horrible miss he still managed to score a brace and assist a brace of goals as well as Roma thrashed Palermo 5-0 in their Serie A fixture.
ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG).
He calls himself "the god" and he should what he's all about this week as he scored in PSG's 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Champions League, then scored a brace and also had an 2 assists in PSG's 4-1 win over Reims. At 34 this man is still racking up numbers.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG).
The man is an icon and always does his talking on the pitch. He has 22 league goals this season and 9 assists. He's just on his planet and the aura he brings to the team is second to none. Sweden will need his expertise in the summer and if he continues this way, you never know where he could take them.
