It was good to have club football back this past weekend and the excitement does not stop as Europe's elite competition and it's junior brother the Champions League and Europa League respectively.

Anyway your weekly dose of PLAYS OF THE WEEK is here, enjoy.........

FLOP OF THE WEEK: Brendan Rodgers (Liverpool)

The Kop gaffer was clueless when he took his team to Old Trafford to take on old foe's Manchester United were they lost the game 3-1 in their premier league fixture. His approach to the game was labored as Liverpool were only hitting long balls straight up to their striker Christian Benteke and the Manchester United defense dealt with all the blows Liverpool could offer. They didn't have an outlet in the game, it was all drab and if it continues this way, Rodgers might just say goodbye to the Kop faithful. What ever happened to the Liverpool of 2013/2014????, wake up Brendan WAKE UP.

GOAL OF THE WEEK: Christian Benteke (Liverpool)

Funny we just slated Liverpool for their sluggish ways, they gave us our goal of the week so Liverpool fans should have a bit to cheer about. Manchester United were defending their 2-0 lead and Jordon Ibe looked like the only Liverpool player that could make something happen as he troubled Luke Shaw down the right wing. Ibe hit a cross in the United box and Daley Blind deflected the cross away from his goal, then Benteke was quickest to react as he hit a powerful over-head kick which stung straight into David De Gea's net.

SAVE OF THE WEEK: David De Gea (Manchester United).

Just after De Gea signed a new deal with the club, he showed his worth between the sticks. man utd just cleared a corner, and Joe Gomez hit a low pass from the halfway line which was flicked by Lovren and Danny Ings met the ball with a nice first touch with his chest, then hit a scissors kick that bounced off the turf and looked like it was going in until De Gea, stepped backed to pull off a wonderful save and keep united in the lead.

MATCH OF THE WEEK: Inter Milan V AC Milan (Serie A).

After both clubs have invested heavily in the transfer market, The Milan derby was going to be turnt and was not below par unlike previous seasons. The first-half finished all square with AC Milan showing more bite and hunger in breaking the deadlock but Handanovic was spot on for his team and kept the game at evens.
Second-half Inter we more expressive and looked more likely to score, and they broke the deadlock when Freddy Guarin hit a shot from 25 yards which went past Diego Lopez in the opposite goal. Mario Balotelli came on for his second Milan debut and brought some life to his team's attack as he struck the post from 20 yards out. Inter's defense saw out the rest of the game and Murrilo was peak of pack.
Inter won the game which was their 3rd straight win in the Serie A. Also both gaffers stroke a bet in which the winner would give the money to the migrant refugees. GOOD GESTURE.

MANAGER OF THE WEEK:  Claudio Ranieri (Leicester City).

The Italian veteran tactically got his team all three points as Leicester came from 2-0 down to beat Aston-Villa 3-2 in their Premier League fixture. Raineri made some tweaks to his formation and sparked some life into the team. Leicester have won the most points in the premier league since April 1st (33).

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Las Palmas (LA LIGA).

The newcomers to the La Liga gave a match that kept us on our feet for most of the game. Las Palmas had a player sent off early in the first half and were trailing 3-1 early in the second-half. But this team put in their all and drew the game 3-3. It's a quote we have always used on our platform, there are no minnows in football.

COMBINED TEAM OF THE WEEK: 4-5-1

GK:  Jack Butland (Stoke).

Jack Butland was in the posts on Saturday against Arsenal and was very instrumental in making sure that the scoreline stayed the way it was. He faced a total of 29 shots during the match, the mosts against a single keeper this season, although this could be attributed to the wastefulness of the Arsenal forwards. He put in a good performance and this week he's been rewarded with a spot on our team of the week.

RB: Fabinho (Monaco).
Monaco-Zenit (5).jpg
The Monaco full-back scored the penalty that won his team all 3 points in their 1-0 win over Ajaccio in the Ligue1 fixture.

CB: John Stones (Everton).

There should have been much pressure on the 21 year old as Everton rejected about three bids from Chelsea for Stones and his qualities against Chelsea showed why the blues wanted him. He was top notch on the day and the Chelsea attack were frustrated.

CB: Jeison Murrilo (Inter-Milan).

The 22 year old was at the top of the game in the Milan derby, and his tackling and interceptions were on point on the day.

LB: Daley Blind (Manchester United)

Has been playing centre-halve for the Red Devils all season and has been an able partner to Chris Smalling, It's not defensive abilities he his known for but his ability to play the ball out of his defense with ease and shows great parnash. He scored a good goal against Liverpool over the weekend, training ground stuff.

CM: Freddy Guarin (Inter-Milan).
The Colombian International has always been reliable to the blue side of Milan and scoring important goals has been his forte. He scored the solitary goal for his side as the narrowly beat rivals AC Milan 1-0.

CM: Ross Barkely (Everton).

He is showing the form he showed two seasons ago and now that he is operating in the middle of the park, flourishing is not a problem. The England International racked up 2 assists against Chelsea and made himself a problem for the Chelsea midfielders.

LW: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid).

He shut his critics up as he scored a milestone and assisted a goal as Madrid thrashed Espanyol 6-0 in their La Liga fixture over the weekend.

RW: Rihad Mahrez (Leicester City).

The Algerian winger has been a shining light for the foxes this season racking up 4 goals with 2 assists. He created 2 goals out of the 3 Leicester scored in their comeback over Aston-Villa over the weekend.

AM: Steven Naismith (Everton).

The Everton forward came off the bench early in the first-half to scored a hat-trick against Chelsea as he helped his team cop all three points against the Premier League champions.

ST: Edison Cavani (PSG).

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic get more rest, Cavani has filled his boots perfectly. The striker scored a brace in PSG's 2-2 draw versus Bordeaux last friday.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid).

The Madrid winger scored scored a milestone for the second time in his career, and has scored 230 goals in 204 games for the "Los Blancos". He is still going on strong and in 1 game he is already top scorer in the La Liga. We are in for another Ronaldo and Messi show.
