What a great piece of Football we had this past weekend as
teams around Europe left us craving for more but we have to wait two weeks as
the International break commences. Hope you all will enjoy that. Meanwhile read
up and enjoy our select PLAYS OF THE WEEK
FLOP OF THE WEEK: Kyriakos Papadopoulos (Bayer Leverkusen).
Leverkusen lost at home to Cologne over weekend 1-2, and
this happened in a dramatic affair. Cologne scored early, Leverkusen replied
then a rash challenge by Papadopoulos saw himself sent off leaving his team handicapped.
And this cost them as they lost the game.
GOAL OF THE WEEK: Inaki Williams (Athletic Bilbao).

The young forward has been a revelation since he broke into
the first at Bilbao, and he showed his skill with a class goal versus Espanyol
in their Sunday fixture. The young lad received a pass aroud the 18, lobbed his
first marker, created a yard for himself then scored a class volley that made
the crowd go wow.
SAVE OF THE WEEK: Petr Cech (Arsenal).
The Arsenal goalie picked the ball out of his net five times
against Bayern Munich in their Champions League match but the veteran pulled
off some great saves and one of them is our save of the week. Bayern were in total control in the game as
Douglas Costa found Lewandowski at the edge of the area found some space in the
box then dinked a cross into the area which was blocked by Per Mertesacker and
Muller was quickest to react with a sharp shot which was heading for the top
corner but Cech was quick to react and stretch to tip the ball over the bar.
MATCH OF THE WEEK: Borussia Dortmund V Schalke 04
(Bundesliga).
They were a lot of
derbies over the weekend so it wasn’t really hard to pick our Match of the
week. The “BLACK FOREST” DERBY is what is called in Germany and 5 goals were
scored as Dortmund take the bragging rights.
Dortmund opened the scoring through Shinji Kagawa but Klaas
Jan Hunterlaar cancelled it out to make it 1-1. Versatile player Matthias
Ginter scored a second for Dortmund which made it 2-1. That goal was Dortmund’s
70th goal this season. Dortmund won the first-half.
Second-Half commenced and it was Dortmund that drew first
blood in the second as well as talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it 3-1
and it looked like Dortmund have sealed the bag but it had not finished there,
Hunterlaar made it 3-2 which made all the fans in the area hang on with nerves.
They were chances late on but Dortmund took the day as the game finished 3-2.
MANAGER OF THE WEEK: Unai Emery (Sevilla).
Galvanised his team to help beat title contenders
Real-Madrid 3-2. Emery and Sevilla team have now taken maximum points against
both Barcelona and Madrid. Am sure suitors will be looking at the Sevilla
Manager in case they need change.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Bayern Munich (Bundesliga).
The German champions showed their greatness as they thrashed
Arsenal 5-1 in the Champions League fixture then went on to thrash Stuttgart
4-0 to cement top spot in both competitions. They’re on something, they’re on
fire.
COMBINED TEAM OF THE WEEK: 4-1-3-2
GK: Rob Elliot (Newcastle).

The Newcastle stand in goalie was superb on the day as
Newcastle got all 3 points in their 1-0 win away to Bournemouth in the Premier
League. Elliot made a total of 8 saves to help his team steal the win.
RB: Matthias Ginter (Dortmund).

The young defender scored and set up another as he helped
Dortmund beat cross town rivals Schalke 04 3-2. The lad has been a regular for
Dortmund this season.
CB: Scott Dann (Crystal Palace).

The Crystal Palace centre-halve had a smashing game against
Liverpool and scoring the winner against a club you support must be a bliss for
him.
CB: Jeison Murillo (Inter-Milan).

The Colombian defender was rock solid for Inter as they
cemented top spot in Serie A in their 1-0 win away to Torino.
LB: Patrice Evra (Juventus).

The French veteran helped Juventus in their resurgence as
they came from behind to beat Empoli away, 3-1 in their Serie A fixture.
CM: Geoffrey Kondogbia (Inter-Milan).

The anchor-man scored his first goal for Inter in their 1-0
win against Torino. The French international has been solid all season.
LW: Angel Di Maria (PSG).

The Argentine winger helped PSG beat Toulouse 5-0 in at home
in their Ligue 1 match. Di Maria scored a goal and was involved in another.
RW: Jesse Lingard (Manchester United).

The young winger had a smashing week as he first off set up
Wayne Rooney in his team’s 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League,
then on his second start for Manchester United in the Premier League he scored
a beauty as he helped the “RED DEVILS” beat West-Brom 2-0.
AM: Willian Borges (Chelsea).

He has been the shining light in Chelsea’s dismal season and
he showed his quality as he scored a late free-kick that saw Chelsea grab all 3
points in their 2-1 Champions League win over Dynamo Kiev. Willian is Chelsea’s
top scorer this season with 5 goals and the funny thing is that they all came
from set-pieces. #SPECIALIST
ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG).

The veteran scored a brace in PSG’s 5-0 thrashing of
Toulouse in their Ligue 1 fixture over the weekend.
ST: Jamie Vardy (Leicester City).

The England International scored the winner in Leicester 2-1
win over Watford in their premier league fixture last Saturday. Vardy has now
scored in 9 consecutive games in the premier league and is 1 game away from
equalling Rudd Vanistelrooy record which is 10.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rob Elliot (Newcastle).
The funny fact is that he was injured all week and he passed
a late fitness test on Friday so that saw him start for his club against
Bournemouth. The young goal-keeper made over 7 saves on the day and it is like
Newcastle is not missing Tim Krul at all with this man in between the post.
