FLOP OF THE WEEK: Rayo Vallecano (Spanish Primera Division).
The spanish outfit will probably have a terrible Christmas, after they bowed out losing to Real Madrid in their LA LIGA fixture 10-2. I know most of you will say it's the Madrid. there matadors and all but it was the manner Rayo lost the game that is baffling. After taking the lead at the bernabeu, the players lost their heads and two of them got sent off and this practically gingered Real Madrid which saw them score a double milestone of goals. Rayo were just lackadaisical.
GOAL OF THE WEEK: Xabi Alonso (Bayern Munich).
The veteran midfielder does not score much but when he scores it's always a goal to validate. A corner-kick was cleared by Darmstadt and it fell to Alonso outside the area. He controlled and smashed a heated half-volley which beat the Darmstadt goalie. It was the only of the game which saw Bayern get through to the next round in the DFB-Pokal.
SAVE OF THE WEEK: Joe Hart (Manchester City).

Arsenal faced Manchester City in what was the match of last weekend. Arsenal were resolute and to hit Manchester City on the counter. Bellerin won the ball in the midfield and feed Joel Campbell, Campbell drove through the middle and fed Ozil, Ozil then fed Campbell back who quickly gave Ramsey who ran his socks off into the box and was 1-on-1 with Joe Hart, Ramsey tried to dink the ball over the Manchester City goalkeeper but Hart rushed out to make himself big a make a brilliant save to keep City in the game.
MATCH OF THE WEEK: Borussia Moenchengladbach V Werder Bremen (DFB-Pokal).

A great game this was, you could call it a classic cup encounter that had a total of 7 goals. Let's get into it then. The first half was a bit drab, only had 1 goal in it and it went to the home side as Lars Stindl scored from Thorgan Hazard's assist.
Second-Half was fire, where we had 6 goals, Janek Sternberg made it 1-1 as he got the equaliser for Bremen. It did not take long for Bremen to take the lead as Jannik Vestergaard gave his team the lead. Bremen looked to have done the job but with 16 minutes left Gladbach got their equaliser through their attacking midfielder Branimir Hrgota who made it 2-2. Gladbach bubble already burst as a minute after their goal PIzarro restored the lead for Bremen. Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah made it 4-2 to Bremen and the tie looked all but done and dusted. Hrgota got his second of the game in the 90th minute and it looked like it will be a nervy finish but Bremen saw the victory through.
COACH OF THE WEEK: Alex Neil (Norwich).
He is the first manager since 1889 to take Norwich to Old Trafford and collect all 3 points. He made his team sit deep and press which enabled them to hit Manchester United on counter attacks. Well it worked because it brought about both goals scored by the canaries.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Spezia (Serie B).
The team from the 2nd tier of Italian football pulled up a giant killing as they knocked out Serie A side AS Roma in the Coppa Italia by penalties. They held the rome team and kept them at bay for 120 minutes, Then beat them 4-2 on penalties.
COMBINED TEAM OF THE WEEK: 4-4-2
GK: Heurelho Gomes (Watford FC).
He kept his 8th clean sheet in Watford's 3-0 premier league win over Liverpool last weekend. All we can say Gomes did his part by not letting any goals in.
RB: Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea).
With the "Special One" gone we could see a breathe of fresh air for the blues as they went on to thrash Sunderland 3-1 in their Premier League encounter. Ivanovic got a goal and an assist for his team.
CB: Havard Nordtveit (Borussia Moenchengladbach).
The Norwegian center-halve was on sung for his team as they needed to bounce back from below-par performances. He helped Gladbach beat Darmstadt even though they were down to ten. It was a morale booster for the team just before the winter break.
CB: Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal).
The center-halve had a smashing game for Arsenal as he helped them beat title rivals Manchester City 2-1 in monday night's premier league fixture. He was particularly praised for his performance against Aguero, didn't give the Argentine an inch to operate.
LB: Charlie Daniels (Bournemouth).
The left-back scored the winning penalty for his team as Bournemouth made it 3 wins out of 3 games in their 2-1 away win against West-Brom. Smashing penalty as well.
CM: Xabi Alonso (Bayern Munich).
The veteran midfielder was present for Bayern's 1-0 wins against Darmstadt in the cup and Hannover in the league. He scored what was our goal of the week in the cup against Darmstadt. Fine Wine
CM: Antonio Candreva (Lazio).
The midfielder scored a brace as Lazio got an unexpected win over table toppers Inter. Lazio won the game 2-1 and Candreva was a delight all through the game, always caused Inter problems.
LW: Angel Di Maria (PSG).
The forward had a smashing week as he came off the bench to set up a late winner as PSG beat St Etienne 1-0, then over the weekend he scored a brace as PSG beat Caen 3-0.

The most expensive player in the world was on sung on the day as he hit a double brace and a brace of assists in Madrid's 10-2 win over Rayo Vallecano in their La Liga fixture just before the christmas break.
AM: Mesut Ozil (Arsenal).
The german has been on smashing form all season and he showed his greatness as he got both assists in Arsenal's 2-1 win over Manchester City. Ozil now has 15 assists in 16 appearances. He needs six more to break the Premier League record which is ironically held by Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry.
ST: Odion Ighalo (Watford).
The Nigerian International has been on top notch form all season and with his brace for Watford against Liverpool saw him get to 12 premier league goals for the season. The highest a Nigerian has scored is 16 premier league goals, with the form Ighalo is on he should beat the record.
ST: Luis Suarez (Barcelona).
The striker scored a hat-trick in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup as Barcelona beat Guangzhou 3-0, then hit a brace in the semi-finals as Barcelona beat River Plate 3-0 in the final.

The Barcelona front man has been on cracking form this season and has always been reliable in key games for his team.
