In 2014, he was called-up by the Colombian national team where he participated in the 2014 Copa America in Chile. Though he was present in the junior levels and tournaments of Colombia in U-17 and U-20 levels.
The 2014 Copa America surely brought Jeison Murillo to limelight where he had a fine performance, in which he also won the Copa America Best Young Player; He was also in the Team of the Tournament.
In February 2015, Inter Milan signed Jeison Murillo from Granada for a fee of about €10,000,000 plus other fees; The transfer materialized in July.
This season has been a great season for Murillo and for his team Inter Milan. He is arguably the best signing for Inter Milan. Murillo has featured 14 times so far this season in the league and has helped Inter Milan with their good start. He has helped his team keep 11 clean sheets in 17 games and has won 2 Man Of The Match awards; All thanks to his compatriots, Miranda and Handanovic. He has an average of 2.3 interceptions per game, 1.9 tackles per game, and 4.1 clearance per game. He is currently rated as Inter Milan's second best player behind shot-stopper, Handanovic.
The energetic defender is a good passer, tackler and a good dribbler. He is good in positioning and aerial battles and prefers playing via long-ball. He uses both feet very well which allows him play at both positions of center-backs (though he is more of a left center-back). He Has the qualities of similar top young defenders like Raphael Varane and Marquinhos. He has been compared to Colombian great Ivan Cordoba, though I see that coming too early at this stage.
Jeison Murillo is one of the most wanted players currently and with the form of the Colombian, Inter Milan will have to do more than enough to keep his services.
