FLOP OF THE WEEK: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid).
This is not because of what he said or should we say presumed to say about his teammates. Ronaldo was on the losing side as his team fell to city rivals Atletico 1-0 on the night. Ronaldo complained about players not being at his level (fitness wise or skill), we will never know, but our main concern is that he did not step-up when things were down, you are the star player of team, the person everyone at the club looks up too and he (Ronaldo) did not perform or he had an average performance against Atletico. Ronaldo normally does his talking on the pitch, he should ditch the press and focus on how he can help his team even though most of their star players are injured. We are very sure Ronaldo will shut us up in time.
GOAL OF THE WEEK: Saido Berahino (West Bromwich Albion).
This goal was an MSN-ESQUE goal, when we were watching it we were like this can't be West-Brom, a team coached by Tony Pulis. Anyway let's get into the goal. A clearance from Gareth Mcauley met Salomon Rondon who controlled the ball and fed Stephane Sessegnon. The winger looked up and sent what could be the assist of the season (a dipped diagonal cross) and Saido Berahino met the ball with a delightful volley making it 3-0 in West-Brom game versus Crystal Palace. The game finished 3-2.
SAVE OF THE WEEK: Lukasz Fabianski (Swansea).
This was a mental save from the Polish International and but he was unlucky on the day as he was on the losing side. The deadball specialist Christian Eriksen was over the free-kick and he hit an unstoppable shot which looked like it was going into the net but Fabianski was quick off his line to push the ball from entering.
MATCH OF THE WEEK: Juventus V Bayern Munich (Uefa Champions League).
This was touted to be one of the games of the round and it lived up to expectation as we saw goals, drama, fights and so on. Both teams were in rich vein of form and it was going to be displayed.
First-Half was a bit drab and all control went to Bayern as former Turin faithful Arturo Vidal was at the thick of things. Bayern's possession progress gave them the edge as they took the lead through Thomas Muller. Bayern continued to control the game and this made them win the first-half.
Second-half, Bayern were a bit resolute letting go of possession and trying to save their away goal. This led to a quick-counter attack which was finished off by a Robben neutral cut in through the left and finish 2-0 Bayern job done. Juventus were not ready to lay their backs and this time they decided to press high up the pitch which could lead their opponents into making mistakes, they got rewarded for their good fortune, the pressing lead to a mistake by the Bayern defense as Mandzukic won the ball and fed Dybala who scored to cut the lead to 1. It wasn't long before Juventus scored their equaliser substitute Stefano Sturaro scored to make it 2-2 to give us a mouthwatering tie. The game finished this way which would make the second leg a must watch.
MANAGER OF THE WEEK: Bruno Genesio (Olympique Lyon).
The Lyon manager was responsible for Paris Saint Germain's first loss in the Ligue 1 this season. His tactics helped galvanise his team unto victory and this showed the runaway leaders are not invincible after all. Lyon beat PSG 2-1 on the night their ligue 1 fixture.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Olympiakos Piraeus (Greek Super League).
This team have gone on to win the Greek Super League with six games to spare. Their record goes at 22 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. Incredible, Olympiakos beat Veria 3-0 to cement first place.
COMBINED TEAM OF THE WEEK:
GK: Willy Caballero (Manchester City).
He was the hero of the day after he stopped 3 penalties in his team's penalty shoot-out win over Liverpool in the league cup final (Capital One Cup). Caballero is definitely a cult hero now.
RB: Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea FC).
The veteran right-back has been one of the stand outs in Guus Hiddink's army and he showed what he's about as he got the winner for Chelsea as they beat Southampton 2-1 in their Premier League win over the weekend.
CB: Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus).
He stepped up to the plate when Giorgio Chiellini got injured. He lead the defence properly and also got himself a goal in Juventus 2-1 win over Inter.
CB: Javier Mascherano (Barcelona).
The center-halve was excellent is Barcelona's 2-0 Champions League win over Arsenal. He made last ditch tackles keeping things safe and tidy at the back.
LB: Filipe Luis (Atletico).
He set up the only goal in the game in Atletico's 1-0 madrid derby win. He was really good on the day defensively and attacking wise.
CM: Ander Herrera (Manchester United).
The Manchester United midfielder had a brilliant day and was always involved with the ball. His one touch passing, vision and agility was top notch on the day. He got himself a goal as well to wrap up a great performance. The red devils beat Arsenal 3-2 on the day.
CM: Sergi Darder (Olympique Lyon).
Had a smashing game against PSG and scored one of the two goals that dented the table toppers unbeaten run. The 22 year old was excellent on the night as Lyon beat PSG 2-1 in their Ligue 1 fixture.
RW: Lionel Messi (Barcelona).
He scored two goals in Barcelona's 2-0 win over Arsenal in their Champions League fixture, then scored a smashing free-kick as in Barcelona's 2-1 win over Sevilla in their weekend la liga fixture. Messi has now scored over 30 goals in 8 seasons in a row.
LW: Antoine Griezmann (Atletico).
The forward is most likely to be the hottest property and things are looking good for him every week. He scored the solitary goal as Atletico beat Real Madrid 1-0 in their La Liga fixture over the weekend.
AM: Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Dortmund).
The Dortmund midfielder has been one of the key players for them this season and he continues to help them fight for a cup this season. Mkhitaryan scored a goal and set up another as Dortmund beat Hoffenheim 3-1 in their Bundesliga fixture over the weekend.
ST: Marcus Rashford (Manchester United).
What a week for the young lad. Made his debut in the Europa League and scored a brace in United's win over Midtjylland and on his Premier League debut he scored a brace in his team's 3-2 win over Arsenal.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marcus Rashford (Manchester United).
It's all about taking your chance, no one really expected to get much from him but the once you get your chance take it and that is what 18 year old Rashford has done. He has now scored 4 goals in 2 games for Manchester United and he is looking like the real deal with his movement and poachers instinct. He has years ahead to improve his game his name might just be in the name of our lips.
